The museum

A prominent part of the materials surfaced by the fiel-searches between 1889 and 1902 wasn’t acquainted by the state, but sold on the antiquary market instead. During the last century was possible to trace parts of these materials coming from Narce as parts of Museum collections in and outside Europe(such as the Danish National Museum of Copenhagen , the Musee of Louvre of Paris , British Museum of London, the Chicago Field Museum , the Pennsylvania Museum of archeology and anthropology of Philadelphia). The massive amount of archive papers witness how part of these materials can also be found in others museums or universities, even though a precise stock-list is not present.

These grave-goods enhance the stunning finds of Narce , stored in Mazzano Romano and often exhibited in Italy at the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia , and the Prehistoric-ethnographic National Museum L.Pigorini in Rome , as in the Archaeological Museum of Agro-Falisco in Civita castellana or the National Etruscan Central Museum of Firenze.

The MAVNA, as agreed with several International Museums , will host the virtual reproduction of the grave-goods now collected in different Museums all around the world. This virtual project will consist of the digital reproduction of archeological materials , parts of the old city , digitized archive papers ,excavation sketches, period films , 3D reality, scenarios of Narce.

This project , largely agreed by these international Museums, is based on the awareness of a completely legal purchase of these materials . The foundation of this Museum in Mazzano Romano(original place of the excavation) is , indeed, very important in order for these institutions to stand up against all of those Museums, based on collections purchased or exported in any illegal way .

By doing so It will be possible to virtually reunite , through the MAVNA , all of the grave-goods and materials belonging to the same necropolis , now exhibited in different continents.

This project , created for scientific instances , has also developed a strong connection to the community and the MAVNA itself ; sadly , even from the first years of the ‘900, when the ufficial excavation terminated ,begun a period of disintegration of the civic ancestry by private diggers violating the necropolis .For instance MAVNA also tried throughout the years to contribute to the cultural formation of the citizens , in order to avoid the violation of the excavations. THe MAVNA , thus , also collaborates with the Valle del Treja Park and with the Soprintendenza dei Beni Archeologici of Etruria Meridionale , in order to enhance the historical and archeological ancestry of the Faliscis
